Investigation finds ‘insufficient evidence’ for Civil Rights Complaint

The Civil Rights Office of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has released the findings of an investigation into CDOT compliance with Title VI civil rights requirements during its study of I-70 East. CDOT welcomed this clear-eyed review of the 15-year study process, which included interviews with the Project team, members of the community and partnering agencies. The main findings of the investigation were that there is “insufficient evidence that the Project will create adverse disparate impacts” and “that a less discriminatory alternative has not been identified.” The lengthy report addresses specific issues in the complaint, including noise and air quality.
